CanSurvive
Every member of the CanSurvive Team is a Breast Cancer (BC) survivor. The team contains a mix of personalities, ages, shapes, sizes, backgrounds and a lot of heart! It draws on the importance of exercise, friendships, and positivity to help manage and recover from cancer.
The CanSurvive Team competes in the Breast Cancer Division of dragon boat competitions from local through to international competitions. The team trains year-round on the unpredictable waters of Te Whanganui a Tara, Wellington harbour, with extra sessions over the competitive summer season. |
Can2
The Can2 team is a competitive women’s team, made up of women from all walks of life - some are breast cancer survivors and some are supporters. You don't have to have had breast cancer to paddle with Can2.
Can2 began as a casual support team for the CanSurvive club and over the past five years has become a strong, supportive and united team of women who want to build on fitness; develop strong, lasting friendships; be part of a fun team culture; and stand in solidarity and recognition of our BC survivors. The team competes in the Premier Women’s division of dragon boat competitions and trains all year round alongside our sister team, CanSurvive, with extra sessions over the competitive summer season. |
CanThrive
CanThrive is our newest team, and the second from the CanSurvive club to participate in the Karapiro IBCPC event in 2023.
Created in 2022, the team is made up of both new and experienced paddlers, providing a place for absolute beginners to learn the sport, alongside veterans who want to pass on their long-term knowledge of what it means to paddle in pink, These women specifically focus on the harikoa/joy of paddling together as a social team. They competed in their first competitive event as a social team at the CRDBA Regional Championships in November 2022. They are very proud wahine who enjoyed sharing the love of their BC sport with all the visiting teams who came to Aotearoa for IBCPC 2023. |
