Invictus Endeavour - October 2022
We were delighted to host an Invictus Endeavour activity in October 2022. Dragon boating was part of the “Land, Sea and Air Endeavour” where members of the New Zealand Invictus community came together to do adventure and sporting challenges. Invictus members are serving or previously serving members of the armed forces who have been wounded, injured or sick while serving.
None of the Invictus members or their families had been on a dragon boat before. With our CanSurvive Club members they did some fun activities to get the boat moving under the guidance of sweep Ewen and had lots of laughs. The weather was spectacular (as always!!!!) and meant they got to view Wellington from various parts of the harbour. They did really well and became super competitive in the boat tug of war at the end! It was a great opportunity for our club members to mix with the Invictus team and learn about their experiences. It was also a fundraising opportunity for the club. We thank them and wish them well with their individual recoveries and, for some, their participation in the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf 2023. |
