Come and Have a Go! Join us on the water, have a go at dragon boating, make some friends, enjoy a great morning tea and think about joining our social team, CanSurvive 2.0. Join us for an hour or so or join for the season. You do not need to be a BC survivor. Just come for some exercise on the water and learn about the supportive environment that a BC dragon boat team provides. CanSurvive, Wellington's dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors, are now establishing a second team for those people that want more emphasis on fun, friendship, and socialising rather than all out competition. Because of the limited numbers of BC paddlers we have decided to open this up to all who would like to paddle for such a team. All ages, shapes and sizes welcome, just come along and try it out - Bring some friends too! The paddlers in our current team are highly competitive and train hard for national and international success. We do however recognize that we have aging paddlers core to the team we aren't prepared to simply let go. When they feel no longer able to maintain the rigors of competition and training we have decided to provide a slightly less vigorous option, introducing CanSurvive 2.0. CanSurvive 2.0 is about adapting to the needs of the team when they can no longer be fully competitive and to make it less intimidating for new paddlers. We say not “fully” competitive because they will still participate in local and regional regattas as they choose so the competition element will still be alive and well! Have a go days 9.30-11am July 5th August 2nd September 13th CanSurvive will provide boats, instructors, life jackets, paddles, afternoon tea and smiles. You need to bring a sense of fun, change of clothes, and positive attitude.
